*FTC Disclosure: I was given free product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review in this post.
I was given the opportunity to check out Whitstlefritz Language program with my kids. As you know, I have 2 young boy ages 7 and 11, and they both have been introduced to Spanish in school. In my school district in New Jersey, children start with Spanish in Kindergarten. It is believed that the younger a child is introduced to a foreign language, the less foreign it will be to them and will come natural for them to understand and speak it.
Unfortunately, although that seems like it should be correct and they can identify some words in other languages, unless it is something they live and speak daily, it is really hard to retain the information. Myself, I went through 3 years of French in and 4 years of Spanish in my schooling, and although I can identify and understand some words, there is no way I could hold a full conversation or write it down.
Whistlefritz claims to making learning another language fun and feel natural for kids. Their claim:
Whistlefritz’s programs allow kids to join a group of lovable character including Fritz, the animated mouse Whistlefritz and friends on a journey to learn another language! The combination of live-action, animation, and lively music makes the programs as entertaining as they are educational! Children learn their second language through Whistlefritz the same way they learned their first language: through words used in context by live speakers in fun skits, games, catchy music, and dance!
With that being said, I wanted to see for myself. We received a DVD “Spanish for Kids Adentro y Afuera (Inside and Out) Ages 2-7” and a CD “Carnaval Spanish Learning Songs”. My boys were less than enthused to be watching what they called such a babyish cartoon, but agreed to check it out.
The first thing I noticed immediately is that the DVD is completely in Spanish. Aside from the initial main menu, every word is in Spanish.
There is a woman who is the main teacher, and you follow around a little mouse named Fritz. I guess that’s a play off of the brand name, but the mouse is really cute.
I was confused how this was teaching Spanish to someone who has no idea what they’re saying as they’re only speaking Spanish, but honestly, I found myself staring and listening as well.
My 11 year old is in 6th Grade and has now been in Spanish for 7 years. Although he’s had extensive Spanish teaching, he still cannot speak or understand it clearly. He wanted to see what it was all about and although he initially joked how “childish” the DVD was with the silly cartoon, he found himself trying to say what everything meant as it was pretty easy to follow along.
The mouse plays a big part in the DVD series as you follow him along. There is a scene that my kids particularly liked in the house where each room the little “Fritz” is in, it tells you the Spanish name so the kids can easily understand. Ahh, now I get it. They can identify the Bathroom the mouse is in, and as no reference is make to a “bathroom”, but only El Baño. I already know what El Baño means, but for living room, I already forget the word that was said. Possibly the kids can retain it more than I can, or through the repetition of the video, they’ll start to associate the word with the place.
They sat for a good 10 minutes before becoming bored with it, but I was surprised to even get that 10 out of them watching it. I think this DVD would be much been suited for a 2 or 3 year old, maybe even 4 as they love to watch more colorful basic shows like this and would easily soak in the information. I am excited to hand this DVD to people I know with younger children and would probably purchase more to give as a gift. It is amazing what young children can soak into their minds without even knowing it.
There are other levels of the language learning fun from Whistefritz that I assume are better for older children and similar to adult learning programs out there.
The CD on the other hand is fun for all ages. Although a bit childish in the songs as well, it is fun to play in the car even if on low. The repetition and catchiness is enough to make you know the words without even knowing what they are.
Overall do I think this program is worth the money? I think for the right age range is certainly is. I would make sure to check the recommended age range before purchasing but I do believe this specific DVD and CD combination is best for the earlier recommended ages of 2-4 (7 is pushing it a bit in this day in technology advances and what they’re already introduced to on youtube.)
Whistlefritz’s collections include DVDs, flashcards and worksheets that are available in Spanish and French.
Love Broadway shows but find it hard to get to NYC during these busy school months? Broadway HD is bringing you a streaming service to help you out.
Trading in those lazy summer days for the fast-paced, back-to-school routines can be rough. But when you add a little family time into those busy schedules, it doesn’t have to be! This September, BroadwayHD, the premiere streaming service for live theater, is helping to bring families together to experience the magic and thrill of theater with a family friendly playlist for everyone to enjoy. Classics like The Sound of Music and Peter Pan to spellbinding productions likeCirque du Soleil: Toruk – The First Flight will make for the most memorable family entertainment night. Below is a rundown of some of the performances included in the playlist. I wanted to see if you might be interested in learning more about BroadwayHD and covering the debut of this playlist as well as other family-friendly content in service.
Wind in the Willows – Join Ratty, Badger, Mole and the impulsive Toad as they embark on a series of riotous adventures spiraling from Toad’s insatiable need for speed! Featuring eye-poppingly beautiful design, exuberant choreography and a gloriously British score, The Wind in the Willows recently brought comedy, heart and thrills to the world-famous London Palladium for a strictly limited summer season.
The Sound of Music – In this exciting production of the universally beloved musical which made its broadcast debut in the UK on ITV, the enchanting Kara Tointon (Mr Selfridge, EastEnders) delivers a “mesmerizing performance and incredible vocal talents” (Daily Mail) as Maria, an apprentice nun who is tasked with caring for the children of a retired naval officer (Julian Ovenden, DowntonAbbey). With Maria’s love for music and unwavering confidence, she brings a new zest for life back into the household. The performance is supported by Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge, Coronation Street) as Baroness Elsa Schraeder and Alexander Armstrong (The Armstrong and Miller Show, Danger Mouse) as Max Detweiler, and also features two songs not in the original movie but part of the stage show since 1959, “How Can Love Survive,” and “No Way to Stop It.” THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE also features showtune favorites like “The Sound of Music,” “Edelweiss,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “My Favorite Things” and many others.
The Woodsman – Based on the beloved writings of L. Frank Baum, The Woodsman, an imaginative retelling of the origins of Oz’s Tin Woodsman, is the story of the Tin Man, the woman he loved, and the witch that would stop at nothing to keep them apart. Through spectacular life-size puppetry and original music, the ensemble of Strangemen & Co. presents an inventive take on one of America’s original fairy tales.
Railway Children – The Railway Children tells the story of Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis, three children whose lives change dramatically when their father is mysteriously taken away. They move from London to a cottage in rural Yorkshire with their mother, where they befriend the local railway porter, Perks, and embark on a magical journey of discovery, friendship and adventure. But the mystery remains – where is Father, and is he ever coming back?
Puffs – For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs… who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. The New York Times proclaims PUFFS, “A FAST-PACED ROMP through the ‘Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.’
Prince and the Pauper – From BBC and based on the Mark Twain classic, Prince and the Pauper is a classic trope. The show captures a classic trope of two individuals switching places. You’ll feel the chill in the castle air and smell the foetid London streets in this richly atmospheric tale of Tudor England. Mark Twain’s story of mistaken identities stars Keith Michell, who re-creates the role that made him famous (King Henry in the classic BBC series The Six Wives of Henry VIII). Street urchin Tom Canty could be Prince Edward’s identical twin brother. When they get mixed up, no-one will believe their stories.
Peter Pan – A smash hit when it debuted in 1991, this production of Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby toured the globe and continues to be beloved by theater goers. The show was filmed in 2000 and features spectacular flying sequences as well as the tunes that everyone loves such as “I’m Flying” and “I Won’t Grow Up.”
Hetty Feather – A BroadwayHD original production debuting for the first time exclusively on BroadwayHD. From the best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson, the tale of plucky Hetty Feather is brought thrillingly to life on stage by award-winning scriptwriter Emma Reeves (CBBC’s The Story of Tracy Beaker) and by Olivier Award-nominated director Sally Cookson, whose many five star productions include Peter Pan, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and Stick Man. With an original musical score by Benji Bower, circus skills and a huge heart, Hetty Feather is a terrific adventure story! Starring BAFTA-nominated actress Phoebe Thomas in the title role, this production of Hetty Feather was filmed from the 2015 Olivier nominated production on the West End in London.
Cirque du Soleil: Toruk – The First Flight – Toruk – The First Flight is a live immersive multimedia spectacle that brings to the stage the breathtaking world of James Cameron’s Avatar like you have never seen it before. Through a riveting fusion of cutting edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination. It is a living ode to the Na’vi’s symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things. Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, Toruk – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film Avatar, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.

Let me start off by saying this isn’t a sponsored post and I was not asked to review this by Hello Fresh. I’ve been getting Hello Fresh for quite some time now, so I figured others may be curious if it’s worth it for their families, and well, to see what’s in the box.
And how do they keep it from spoiling before it gets to you? Well, better said than read, so check out my thoughts on Hello Fresh this week…
The meats: Chicken, Ground Beef, & Pork Tenderloin.
Hello Fresh usually has some of the best tasting meats around. Their spice packets and meat quality is why almost all of their recipes are fantastic and it keeps me coming back for more.
Here is the first recipe that I cooked and promised to show. These were the bagged ingredients for this meal:
Cheddar Chicken Fajitas: 30 min recipe
Figgy Balsamic Pork: 30 minute recipe
The beef I received was an off color than usual and I was surprised as I never had a meat issue with them although I have received some old veggies. I’m still not convinced it’s spoiled, but rather be safe than sorry especially since I’m sick and congested right now so I can’t use the smell test.
I contacted them through the chat in the app and was given a credit back which was really helpful. It’ll apply towards my next order. For now, I plan to buy some beef from the store and cook up three Spaghetti Ragu as intended. Stay tuned!
Spaghetti Beef Ragu: 30 minutes
Want to give it a try?
Save $40 off of your first box! Unlimited option choices and add on features too. With this deal your first order of 3 meals is less than $20 including shipping.
They do set you up for a monthly subscription (card required) but you can easily skip and unskip weeks if you stay on top of it like I do (you can skip up to 5 weeks in a row in one shot, even more once they open up the week. It’s like a set it and forget it). OR you can cancel immediately after your box delivers but I do enjoy getting them when I feel like it, so I keep mine going.
What else is in the box? I promised I’d share, so here is what’s in the envelope this week. It changes weekly, and although I like to look, I’ve never actually gotten any of the items they’re trying to sell. One subscription is enough for me a week lol!
Ahhh.. Creating a will. One of the last things you ever want to do. Not only is it time consuming and a bunch of legal terms, but it is also talking about your possibly timely or untimely demise and something we really do not want to talk or think about. The fact is, it’s important. Especially if you have children.
I have been following the Dave Ramsey program for a little over a year now, and one of the things he preaches is the benefits of having a Will.
Many of us, when we think of a Will, we think of old age and how we will divvy up our belongings to our loved ones. The fact of the matter is, a Will is much more than that, and anyone over the age of 18, especially anyone with a child or children need to start thinking about their Will now. Even better, don’t just think about it, get it done.
A Will is there in case something were to happen to you to let your children go to whom you wish. Without a written, legal Will, there is a long process with the state in which probate court will need to be involved to decide the fate of where your children go. And who knows where they’ll wind up in the mean time…
There is an easy to use online program that literally makes creating a will a 10 minute thing. You can go to Trust & Will and create a Trust, a Will, or just a document to specificity the guardians of your children should something ever happen to you and/or your spouse. You can do all 3 in one document for a discount as well.
What’s the benefits of each? They break it down simply for you below;
Once you have the document completed, you can choose to print it yourself, or to have the documents sent to you (or both). You have to get it notarized in order for it to become a legal document, so you’ll need a physical copy no matter what.
That seems to be the biggest issue for people, finding the right place or the time to get the documents officiated and notarized. Luckily, if you have a UPS store by you, you’re in luck. Simply go to their website and click services. You’ll see a notary public section where you can make an appointment. I found it extremely convenient that they have weekend appointments. All in all it should take no more than 30 minutes. And bonus? They provide the signature witnesses as well which is another annoyance to find witnesses available yourself.
I was skeptical of it only taking 10 minutes, but honestly it did. It is such a simple process and my husband and I are happy to have this crossed off of our “adulting” to-do-list.
*Disclosure: I was provided product in order to review the item and give you my opinion of it.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET opening in theatres everywhere November 21st
In RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, video-game bad guyRalph(voice of John C. Reilly)and best friend Vanellopevon Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman)leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internetwhere they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a placeVanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had.Directed by Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) and Phil Johnston (co-writer “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Zootopia,” writer, “Cedar Rapids”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt,” “Lilo & Stitch”), “Ralph Breaks the Internet” hits theaters onNov. 21, 2018.
New World Tests the Strength of Friendship
“Ralph Breaks the Internet” takes Ralph and Vanellope to a vast, unfamiliar world with
endless possibilities. When filmmakers put themselves in the characters’ shoes, they
realized Ralph and Vanellope would have completely different points of view when it came
to the internet. Says director Rich Moore, “They’re like a couple of small-town kids who
venture into the big city. One falls in love with the city, while the other one can’t wait to go
“Ralph is in love with the life that he has,” adds director Phil Johnston. “But Vanellope is
ready for a change—she wants to spread her wings a little. That creates conflict within
their friendship, which becomes the heart of the story.”
“I love that the film is about change,” says producer Clark Spencer. “Two best friends are
about to realize that the world won’t always be the same. The internet is the perfect
setting, really, because it’s all about change—things change by the second.”
The story kicks off in the arcade, where Ralph and Vanellope have been living
harmoniously—fulfilling their duties in their games during the day and hanging out together
in their neighboring arcade games at night. “Vanellope is lamenting the fact that her game
is getting a little boring,” says Johnston. “So, Ralph takes it upon himself to amplify the
excitement in Sugar Rush. And Ralph being Ralph—it doesn’t go exactly as planned.”
Ralph’s shenanigans trigger a chain of events that culminate with a player in the arcade
accidentally breaking the steering wheel off Vanellope’s game. When Litwak learns that a
replacement part would cost more than the game makes in a year, he has no choice but to
unplug Sugar Rush and sell it for parts. “The part they need to fix the game is at a place on
the internet called eBay,” says Pamela Ribon, who co-wrote the screenplay with Johnston.
“Ralph and Vanellope have never heard of the internet, much less eBay, but Litwak has
installed a router, so the arcade is actually online for the first time. They decide to take the
leap into this unknown world and travel to the internet in order to find the steering wheel
and save Vanellope’s game.
“The internet strikes them as loud, fast, crazy and completely unpredictable,” continues
Ribon. “Ralph is nervous and uncomfortable, and Vanellope is smitten, of course.”
All aboard! Thomas the Train has been around since I was a child. It was Thomas and Barney that captured the hearts of children everywhere and was a must watch daily.
“Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! The Series” made its debut on September 17th. This all-new redeveloped series comes with exciting new features, from new locations and a gender-inclusive Steam Team, to new formatting seeing Thomas breaking the fourth wall, speaking directly to the audience and inviting kids along for the adventures!
Throughout the years, Thomas has been able to sustain its growth and stay relevant so why would anything change? In a new age where everything is out in the open and children are learning earlier in life about their part in their future, Thomas will be there to guide them along.
The series is also about to get serious about female empowerment as they welcome a new engine all the way from Kenya named Nia, who is the absolute equal of Thomas the Tank Engine and the other male engines populating the Island of Sodor.
She’s independent, a great problem solver and fast learner, who is also a real optimist with a great sense of fun.
As a parent, Actress Olivia Wilde is “on board” with everything Thomas is standing for along with the United Nations sustainable development goals that have been worked into the show.
Additionally, along with the revamped series comes new music and an all new theme song that little engineers are sure to love. The new music is now streaming on Spotify.
My 6 year old son has been what I call “past the Thomas phase” for a couple of years now and onto the stuff his older brother is doing. Verbatim he told me “Thomas is for babies” when I asked if he’d like to check out the new Thomas the Train series and movie.
I explained to him that it changed a bit and that he should give it a try. Not only does it have some cool stories but it’s on Nick Jr. now! He agreed to check it out and that was that.
There are many new catchy songs which is much different than the old format. This certainly helps to keep kids engaged and wanting to know what happens next!
He immediately fell into his Thomas the Train obsession and wanted to pull out his Thomas the Train toys to play with where collected many over the years and they’ve collected dust but I’m happy to pull them back out if they’ll get some 6 year old lovin’!
There are some awesome NEW Thomas toys out as well that play more into the new themes like this Jungle Set my son cannot get enough of. His laugh says it all..
Fortnite can wait! Thomas is ON!
All aboard the Thomas Express!
Can you spot Thomas in the United Nations building?

August’s box was a fun one! Here is what it included;
Much like a redbull but without the massive sugar count, and packed with iron this little drink is a nice pick me up.
These are cute little samples of Grandpa soaps. I love the witch hazel which naturally clarifies your hair folicals and scalp. It has the faintest smell, ordinarily I like a fragrant shampoo, but this was ok.
The Grandpa Soap Co – Witch Hazel Shampoo and Conditioner
Protein bars are sort if my arch nemesis. Ive only met one brand that I liked, and sadly this isn’t it. I love me some peanut butter, but the consistency on this is hard to swallow. It might just be me being picky!
First of all, yes, an entire BOX of these came in my goodie box. How exciting! Unfortunately I am not a fan of blueberries so I had to spit this out after ther first bite (a little too bitter since it’s all natural) but my husband sure loved these. He ate the entire box of the 5 left in just 2 days. These equal vHealthy and happy husbands!

What a blast my boys and I had today at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City New Jersey.
Today was a perfect day to be at the LSC. 75 and sunny for the morning and we got there bright and early to get a jump start on Dino Dig!
This is a view looking down on the exhibit from the 4th floor. It’s a huge area of imagination and digging up REAL (ok, replica) Dinosaur bones!
We’ve been here before, but even though they’ve seen it, my boys still seemed to enjoy it just as if it was the first time again. Finding new dinosaurs, even dinosaurs eggs and poop!
Not to mention, I cannot get enough of this view! You can pay big money for a view as close as this to the NYC skyline. Many parts of the center allow for outstanding views but the Dino Dig section is basically in its backyard.
We wanted to also check out some of the featured exhibits on the third floor. These are the limited time, see em’ while they’re hot, catch them if you can kind of exhibited so I suggest you get on in!
Arthur’s World is pretty cute. It is an entire large portion of the 3rd floor dedicated to the children’s show “Arthur”. Although my kids were never into the show, they’ve both read the books and appreciated this fantasy room where they got to feel like they were part of the show.
They got to pretend to be school teachers and students of the class. There were changes of clothes they can even wear to get into character.
They also went “camping” and played house complete with a kitchen.
They looked around and played however it might be more in tune with the younger crowd.
The most popular new exhibit is the planetarium dome theater show theat runs every hour or so. It is included with the LSC day pass, but I believe they’d like you to sign up for showtimes to avoid having to turn anyone away.
I remember seeing shows in this awesome dome theater as a child. It used to make me dizzy, and still does,- but it’s worth it!
They have a few different shows all based on the solar system, we saw “beyond 2 worlds”.
My 6 year old was a bit nervous, gripping on to the seats because of the virtual reality like feeling you get. Eventually he settled down and enjoyed it. Both kids and myself left with a huge smile and slight headaches and dizziness. It’s a love/hate relationship!
Last but certainly not least, the awesome new exhibit GROSSOLOGY was so cool!
Having 2 boys, gross is a part of my daily vocabulary… this is not for the queezy people of the world. Many boogers, burps and farts are thrown around this room. Many..
I think my favorite part of this exhibit was the lifesize, real life operation game. Squishy organs you place one by one into a cartoon body, and then go to work getting a light flashing and buzzing if you even so much as tap the metal sides, just like the game!
They would stay in this exhibit for hours if I let them.
Aside from the fun new exhibits, we hit up some of our old favorites too. The touch tunnel;
The animal exhibits!
And so much more.
You definitely need a full day to really appreciate everything. There is a food court that you can stop and get a bite for lunch or dinner, so plan a full day here… see it all.
Take in all of the knowledge, fun, and views the Liberty Science Center has to offer. You’ll be happy you did!
