Liberty Science Center Summer Fun: Dino Dig, Grossology, Arthur’s World, Planetarium and much more!

What a blast my boys and I had today at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City New Jersey.

Today was a perfect day to be at the LSC. 75 and sunny for the morning and we got there bright and early to get a jump start on Dino Dig!

20180721_111058.jpgThis is a view looking down on the exhibit from the 4th floor. It’s a huge area of imagination and digging up REAL (ok, replica) Dinosaur bones!

We’ve been here before, but even though they’ve seen it, my boys still seemed to enjoy it just as if it was the first time again. Finding new dinosaurs, even dinosaurs eggs and poop!

20180721_095719.jpg

Not to mention, I cannot get enough of this view! You can pay big money for a view as close as this to the NYC skyline. Many parts of the center allow for outstanding views but the Dino Dig section is basically in its backyard.

20180721_094127.jpg20180721_100823.jpg

We wanted to also check out some of the featured exhibits on the third floor.  These are the limited time, see em’ while they’re hot, catch them if you can kind of exhibited so I suggest you get on in!

20180721_090855.jpg

Arthur’s World is pretty cute.  It is an entire large portion of the 3rd floor dedicated to the children’s show “Arthur”. Although my kids were never into the show, they’ve both read the books and appreciated this fantasy room where they got to feel like they were part of the show.

20180721_101925.jpg They got to pretend to be school teachers and students of the class. There were changes of clothes they can even wear to get into character.

20180721_101936

They also went “camping” and played house complete with a kitchen.

20180721_10253020180721_102756

They looked around and played however it might be more in tune with the younger crowd. 20180721_101726

The most popular new exhibit is the planetarium dome theater show theat runs every hour or so.  It is included with the LSC day pass, but I believe they’d like you to sign up for showtimes to avoid having to turn anyone away.

I remember seeing shows in this awesome dome theater as a child. It used to make me dizzy, and still does,- but it’s worth it!

20180721_114112.jpg

They have a few different shows all based on the solar system, we saw “beyond 2 worlds”.

My 6 year old was a bit nervous, gripping on to the seats because of the virtual reality like feeling you get. Eventually he settled down and enjoyed it.  Both kids and myself left with a huge smile and slight headaches and dizziness.  It’s a love/hate relationship!

Last but certainly not least, the awesome new exhibit GROSSOLOGY was so cool!

Having 2 boys, gross is a part of my daily vocabulary… this is not for the queezy people of the world.  Many boogers, burps and farts are thrown around this room.  Many..

20180721_103353.jpg

I think my favorite part of this exhibit was the lifesize, real life operation game.  Squishy organs you place one by one into a cartoon body, and then go to work getting a light flashing and buzzing if you even so much as tap the metal sides, just like the game!20180721_10481420180721_104653

They would stay in this exhibit for hours if I let them.

20180721_10395820180721_10344320180721_10550820180721_10375720180721_103906

Aside from the fun new exhibits, we hit up some of our old favorites too. The touch tunnel;

20180721_113715

20180721_112303

The animal exhibits!

20180721_11180320180721_11073720180721_11100220180721_111644

And so much more.

You definitely need a full day to really appreciate everything. There is a food court that you can stop and get a bite for lunch or dinner, so plan a full day here… see it all.

Take in all of the knowledge, fun, and views the Liberty Science Center has to offer. You’ll be happy you did!

Yogi Surprise Monthly Box

I’ve been a little MIA lately with alot going on now that it’s Summer. My kids and I have been busy to say the least.

I am excited to try out another Yogi Surprise box and treat myself! The last box, linked above was really awesome and what’s better is this time I have TWO to show you.

20180712_183634

They have a couple of themes you can choose from if you join their subscription service, depending on what tickles your fancy (does anyone really even say that anyone?! LOL).

All products are non-GMO, & cruelty-free. Check them out here: https://yogisurprise.com/yoga-box/https://yogisurprise.com/jewelry-box/

First up is the yoga box. This month’s theme is “adventure”.

I must prefix this by stating I found the BEST new Summer product in this box. I am in love with this Badger brand all natural Aloe gel. Its clear and not at all sticky. It is a life saver this Summer for me especially on my face.  It is definitely helping with the dry peeling skin I have from chlorine and sunburn.

20180709_195753.jpg

20180709_195807.jpg

Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation.

I’ve been only using it for the past 3 days and I’ve seen amazing results on my facial appearance already.

I have larger pores and its smoothing out my skin, especially near my nose. Also the redness is evening out, but it isn’t clogging my pores like some lotions do.

The BEST part? A daily Aloe facial regimen can help reduce wrinkles! Yes, I said it! Makes sense doesn’t it? Plump your face full of natural goodness and hydration and the wrinkles will slowly fade.  That’s my goal!

Next up is the Yogi Surprise Aloha hip pouch made out of 100% coated Tyvek® to keep your valuables safe from splashes, spills and weather. Retail value $36.

I like that “fanny packs” are making a big comeback. Rapper Logic has made a statement making sure to add one to many of his outfits.

This one is particularly useful this Summer since it is somewhat water proof (I have a feeling water can maybe leak in through the zipper though). Not to mention it is super lightweight

20180709_195711.jpg

African Chai Tea by Just Tea is a nice change up to my normal coffee routine.

20180709_195824

One really cool thing about each Yogi Surprise box is that they always include a Yogi surprise sequence card. Try some of these out if you can while you sip your tea!20180709_195635

Surprise surprise! This Yogi box also has a special jewelry piece to add to your collection.  A simple natural stone necklace that comes with interchangeable necklace lace.

20180709_19585420180709_195959

Lastly it’s the all natural Nantucket Spider bug repellent.  This is a must have for all parents! Spray it on yourself if you do not want to put anything on your kids (even though it is all natural, deet free) and it’ll help keep the bugs away from your little tribe.

How cute is this box? Let @yogisurprise know what you think!

20180710_18090520180710_181006

The 3 pieces in this month’s box really add up to alot. The plunging necklace along with the matching bracelet (and if you got the yogi surprise yogi box you have the bonus matching necklace!) are the perfect accessories to daytime or nighttime outfits.

The white pearl look matte beads are my favorite!

This Dawn Yogi Yoga must sets the mood for your Yoga sequence (hint, use it with your above sequence card!) It has a very light citrus fragrance and is made right in Texas in the USA!

Bendy and the Ink Machine Birthday Party

20180421_124403.jpg

Anyone else have a child who picks the most odd themes that they want for their birthday party?

My son dropped on me that he really wants to have a Bendy and the Ink Machine birthday party in our yard this year for his birthday next month.  And guess what,  there aren’t any party supplies at all for it at retail stores.

I know that he loves it,  and he watches the videos on you tube,  so guess what? This mommy has to do what mommy has to do to make it happen! Make it!

I decided to do like I did last year when he wanted to have a Five Nights at Freddy’s themed party and the were limited decorations to choose from.  Large cardboard cut outs! Very simple and the best part,  the kids can do most of the work. It isn’t child labor if they request to do it right??!? LOL. Just kidding.  He was so excited to get to work on it.

20180421_130140

The first step we did was getting the images to print out in a larger then one paper format. We used a free site called blockposters.com which helps you convert the images easily to multiple pages to create a poster.

Then we cut each piece of paper out and organized them together. 20180421_091641.jpg

Look how great my little boy was doing. Yes, he really did this all himself!

Then, we used anything we had around the house that can act as a sturdy back for the image. We had one piece of a gift box,  and some previously used shipping boxes that we cut to lay flat.

20180421_120605

Then you just glue each piece on order,  let them dry, and cut them out on the box.  We also cut eyes holes out so that the kids can use them as masks.

For the happy birthday banner,  I used my cricut explore and downloaded the banner file I liked for .99 cents.

I already had some cool vintage looking card stock on hand so it worked perfectly for this theme.

Also,  to make it more fit the theme, I printed some of the images I found online of the characters and cut them on sticker paper that you can get at any craft store.

It was a little time consuming,  but fun to put together.

20180421_132844.jpg

Here are some pictures of the FNAF them cutouts and party we did last year!

I’ve lived in New Jersey my entire life and haven’t been to Medieval Times until now.

Word on the street is there is a new Queen in town! Queen Maria Isabella is the first Queen at the location and she holds it down!

20180407_161459.jpg

Queen Maria Isabella welcomes you to dine with her and her royal court. Always a generous host, the Queen has commanded her royal chefs to cook her favorite meal just for you.

Medieval Times’ noble guests feast on garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, sweet buttered corn, herb-basted potatoes, the pastry of the Castle, coffee and two rounds of select beverages.

Our show was the 5pm show, but we got there at 3:50 and I’m glad we did. Parking was scarce and pretty far away for a cold windy day like today,  but we weren’t in a rush which was good.

Table sections (unless VIP) are chosen by first come first serve. We were given table 14 in the blue knight section which was good because my little one had me give him a blue sprayed Mohawk before we left the house.  Maybe that’s why they gave us blue? Either way, it worked out😊

They give you colored paper crowns that coincide with your knight and seat color after you get your seat tickets,  and then you walk into a room full of memorabilia and a small show with the queen recognizing special occasions like birthdays in which she “knights” The person in front of a crowd.  It was really cool to see an 80 year old woman there being knighted on her 80th birthday.

Make sure to pay attention to where your entrance is based on your color.  There seemed to be alot of confusion about that when it came time to line up to enter which is 15 minutes before show start time. Hint is to check the walls by the steps,  they have the color shields that should be in the section,  but it’s best to ask so you’re in the right spot initially.

We were ready to go in blue section,  and here is a view from our seat at table 14, see how cool the lighting is?

20180407_165247.jpg

Once seated you immediately get served with the first coarse,  your tomato bisque soup which is awesome! They have vegetarian and vegan options,  but check out the standard menu which is on the napkins at your seat:

20180407_170230.jpg

Overall,  it was a great time.  Fun show,  and great family atmosphere.  The only thing is that I wished the actual show was a little longer.  They spent about 20 minutes just calling out birthday shout outs which was making my kids fidgety and anxious. But once the actual show started, they were all eyes on the stage.

20180407_171920.jpg

Rooting for the blue knight (he lost in this show but that’s ok)

20180407_181753

The best part is you can Enter to win a family 4 pack of passes to go enjoy dinner and a show!

IPlay America Freehold NJ

Today we visited IPlay America, an indoor theme park in Freehold, NJ.

It’s definitely misleading from the outside as it sits in a strip mall and looks like any other storefront.  Inside,  it’s huge!

Inside it’s made to mimic an outdoor boardwalk with arcades, stands,  and rides. It even has a boardwalk style floor.

20180311_121528.jpg

The rides there aren’t for older kids,  but my kids ages 5 and 9 had a good time and went on just about all of them although my 5 year old needed an adult to ride most of the rides with him so I had a ride wristband too. We had the iRide plus bands, which include the larger rides like go karts and coaster.

Some of the rides they enjoyed;

Bumper boats

20180311_134005.jpg

Spinning Coaster

20180311_123726.jpg

Go Karts

20180311_131704

The skywalk was extra credits and not included with the ride passes.  It’s 10 credits or $5 for kids under 42″ and they do the lower section.  20 credits or $10 for kids taller than 42″ and they go on the really high area.  They get strapped in and follow the path with the bar for safety.

I wouldn’t recommend this for any child who may be scared of heights.  My son got scared after the first beam and came right back down and they wouldn’t credit us back!20180311_122658.jpg

The bottom section is cute for very young kids, but there isn’t much to it.

20180311_122649.jpg

The arcades are fun but unfortunately they do not let you win enough in my opinion.  The grab claw games are almost pointless as they do not pick up the items at all.

The game selection is great and tons of things my kids enjoy.  They won a little over 1,000 tickets and I like that they are loaded directly onto your point card. There isn’t much to choose from for prizes though, so we got a bunch of candy.

20180311_134700

Overall, it’s a nice day out if you want to get out of the house and have that boardwalk feel when it’s not so nice weather out.

20180311_134253.jpg

One of the best parts about iplay is yhe event area.  There are many decent priced shows for all ages including concerts and dinners. I highly recommend visiting the event area if you have a chance!

We will also have tons of entertainment including Miss Sherri from Honey Child Music Academy, Neverland Balloon Artists, face painting and a photo booth with The Selfie Social! Afterwards, enjoy our FREE Sonny the Bunny Colossal Carrot Adventure, taking place inside the park from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
