Liberty Science Center Summer Fun: Dino Dig, Grossology, Arthur’s World, Planetarium and much more!

What a blast my boys and I had today at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City New Jersey.

Today was a perfect day to be at the LSC. 75 and sunny for the morning and we got there bright and early to get a jump start on Dino Dig!

20180721_111058.jpgThis is a view looking down on the exhibit from the 4th floor. It’s a huge area of imagination and digging up REAL (ok, replica) Dinosaur bones!

We’ve been here before, but even though they’ve seen it, my boys still seemed to enjoy it just as if it was the first time again. Finding new dinosaurs, even dinosaurs eggs and poop!

Not to mention, I cannot get enough of this view! You can pay big money for a view as close as this to the NYC skyline. Many parts of the center allow for outstanding views but the Dino Dig section is basically in its backyard.

We wanted to also check out some of the featured exhibits on the third floor.  These are the limited time, see em’ while they’re hot, catch them if you can kind of exhibited so I suggest you get on in!

Arthur’s World is pretty cute.  It is an entire large portion of the 3rd floor dedicated to the children’s show “Arthur”. Although my kids were never into the show, they’ve both read the books and appreciated this fantasy room where they got to feel like they were part of the show.

20180721_101925.jpg They got to pretend to be school teachers and students of the class. There were changes of clothes they can even wear to get into character.

They also went “camping” and played house complete with a kitchen.

They looked around and played however it might be more in tune with the younger crowd. 20180721_101726

The most popular new exhibit is the planetarium dome theater show theat runs every hour or so.  It is included with the LSC day pass, but I believe they’d like you to sign up for showtimes to avoid having to turn anyone away.

I remember seeing shows in this awesome dome theater as a child. It used to make me dizzy, and still does,- but it’s worth it!

They have a few different shows all based on the solar system, we saw “beyond 2 worlds”.

My 6 year old was a bit nervous, gripping on to the seats because of the virtual reality like feeling you get. Eventually he settled down and enjoyed it.  Both kids and myself left with a huge smile and slight headaches and dizziness.  It’s a love/hate relationship!

Last but certainly not least, the awesome new exhibit GROSSOLOGY was so cool!

Having 2 boys, gross is a part of my daily vocabulary… this is not for the queezy people of the world.  Many boogers, burps and farts are thrown around this room.  Many..

I think my favorite part of this exhibit was the lifesize, real life operation game.  Squishy organs you place one by one into a cartoon body, and then go to work getting a light flashing and buzzing if you even so much as tap the metal sides, just like the game!20180721_10481420180721_104653

They would stay in this exhibit for hours if I let them.

Aside from the fun new exhibits, we hit up some of our old favorites too. The touch tunnel;

The animal exhibits!

And so much more.

You definitely need a full day to really appreciate everything. There is a food court that you can stop and get a bite for lunch or dinner, so plan a full day here… see it all.

Take in all of the knowledge, fun, and views the Liberty Science Center has to offer. You’ll be happy you did!

Fright Fest 2016

Let me start off by saying that this is NOT a sponsored post. I have no affiliation with Six Flags and this is just my own experiences that I want to share with you.

First off, before I even start, go get a season pass to six flags! Right now, it’s the best deal I’ve ever seen so I had to scoop them up for my family of 4. But you have to be quick because you MUST ACTIVATE the passes before Oct 31st, just 9 more days, to get the deal.

It’s only $6 a month (auto-pay) per person for minimum of 12 months, for a COMBO GOLD pass that includes the rest of this year free including Fright Fest and Holiday in the park, Free Parking, and Hurricane Harbor for next year. That is only $72 per person for the whole YEAR and a one day ticket is $72 if you were to go just 1 day,so even if you only go one time the entire year (which is not very likely), then it already paid for itself! That’s why I think it is so worth it. They do shows throughout the year, bring a friend free of discounted, and so many other deals.

During the end of the year, starting October, they’re only open Friday’s after 5:30pm and then on Sat and Sun all day. If you go during the weekends, you can spend the whole morning there and enjoy the fall and Halloween decor without and spooks or scares. Once the sun sets though, it’s a whole other story.

So should you bring your young kids to fright fest? I say go for it. My boys had a great time despite the scary zombies roaming around. My 8 year old absolutely LOVED the zombies. I on the other hand tried my best not to make eye contact and used the kids as a shield LOL! I get creeped out with that stuff… It did make it easier having the kids with me because they didn’t bother us as much.1477141950851

My 4 year old didn’t mind the first time we went, I don’t think he noticed the zombies as much. The 2nd time, he was more aware of them and what was going on and he cried for a bit to go home. He kept looking over his shoulder and I felt so bad, but then I had a genius idea! I told him to switch jackets with his brother, and that it was so big on him, it was like a “blanket” and the zombies would think he was just a big blanket. It worked! He started to forget about it eventually and enjoyed himself the rest of the night.

I love carnivals, and theme parks, so of course I love Six Flags Great Adventure. I wish it was a little closer since it’s about an hour drive, but so was Sesame Place which we had a blast this past Summer and went a lot with our season passes there. It’s good to switch it up, so next Summer we’ll have these passes for the theme and water park at great adventure. Did I mention, if you love Pokemon Go, then you will be excited to know that there are many Pokemon hanging out here 🙂

My favorite thing is seeing my boys enjoying themselves on the rides. They have a bunch of rides for young kids and a large area with stands and arcades. They really wound up having a great time despite the initial fear of the zombies.

GET YOUR PASSES SOON! You must go BEFORE 10/31 to activate the pass to get the Combo Deal even if you buy the passes, it will not be combo unless it’s activated before then.

Horse Haven World Adventures Mobile App

When I was a teen, the game “The Sims” came out for PC and I was hooked.

The game allowed you to basically raise another person and tell them what to do. Build your own new home, furnish it with the newest appliances, and the best part, find a job and make as much money as you could!

For me, I’d always be upset about the fact that my game play was so limited and I only got to play it when stationed at the desktop computer.

With all of the new apps out there, I am so surprised it took so long for a game like this to come out. Finally, UbiSoft got it right when they came out with this FREE app!

I am talking about Horse Haven; New World Adventures. This is every little girls dream! You raise and breed horses. Keep the stables neat and clean, and race and ride them!

If you have a young daughter, or if your like simulation games like I do, I suggest you check it oy! You can get extra diamonds and points to build your farm land bigger and better and the possibilities are endless!

The only quam I have with this game is I feel like they are trying to get you to buy and buy when it comes to speeding up r process, but I guess that’s how ever free app is now a days. They have to make money some how.

I give this game a 3 out of 5 stars because if the slight difficulty of use and the time lapse if you don’t pay for diamond, but I hope this is the start of more simulation games in the app store in the future!

As of 2018, Horse Haven is now available on PC making this game that much more fun!

Check it out and get it here:
