You can get yours in time for Christmas too and get 10% off while you’re at it using code  LOVEYAFFI10 for all products in Yaffi store.

Pajamas are a big part of our Christmas celebration here on our home. Growing up, my parents always let us open one gift from them on Christmas Eve and it was always our holiday pajamas. I was excited each year to see what they’d look like,  and now in my home it’s no different eith my children as I’ve continued the tradition.

Although we broke tradition this year because the moment I saw this set online I just had to have them. When I saw the package arrive (only 4 days after I ordered!) I couldn’t wait to try them on and share with you all.

We put the pj’s on and got right in the mood to decorate for Christmas,  and the tree is my boys’ favorite part to do.  They like looking through all of the ornaments we’ve collected and made through the years and remember and cherish each moment which I love so much. Even our dog Sadie got in on the action! I think she was secretly wishing she had some matching cozy pjs too!

Sizing is pretty straight forward for the sets,  and I have to say they fit as they say – maybe even alittle bigger which is better to me. I believe the highest size in children’s is 8/9 year old but they actually fit both of my kids fine as you can see in the photos. Me and my husband both has a size medium and I thought they fit well also. If you gave a child bigger than 8/9, you can go for xs or small and it should be ok.

They don’t only have pajamas, they have other matching adult/child outfits and bathing suits which are really cute too! I actually tried a set for me and my youngest over the Summer and loved how it looked on us. You can check out the swimwear post here.

The material is good quality although in have a sence they may shrink a bit in the wash. That’s another reason I’m glad they run slightly big.

These sets would be PERFECT for family holiday card photos to send to friends and family.

This was such a treat and I can’t wait to wear them on Christmas Eve and take Christmas morning photos.

It doesn’t get any better than this!

You can get matching mommy/baby,  dad/ baby,  whole family,  or even just husband and wife sets. Order yours now to have in time for Christmas!

If that Stupid Hatchimals Commercial Comes on one More time, I am going to Loose my Sh*t…

20161112_201136.pngI know I can’t be the only one out there…

If that stupid Hatchimals commercial comes on one more time, I am going to loose my shit…It keeps drilling into my sons head that he needs to have the stupid thing, and as a parent knowing Santa isn’t going to be able to bring it for him this year, breaks my heart.

Such a simple sales tactic as old as time. Supply and Demand. No store has had them in stock for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been kicking myself for not grabbing one earlier. I am an early shopper, but I also shop frugally. I was waiting to be able to use my Toy’s R Us coupon so I didn’t have to spend $60 on that dumb little thing that I know he’ll play with once and toss it to the side. Who the hell knew it was going to be the new Furby?

A few weeks ago after my son saw a You Tube video and mentioned the name, I looked it up on Amazon and saw the price. $59.99. Add to cart was highlighted in yellow, and all I had to do is click it. Ehh,I’ll wait I said… clicking off of the site… It’ll go on sale I said….

A week later, I strolled unknowing, with my $25 off of $100 coupon in hand into the aisle of Toy’s R US that looked most likely to house the brightly colored weird looking egg they call”hatchimals”. I saw a sign hanging on an empty shelf “Hatchimals on Sale $49.99“. Quirky and oblivious to why the shelf was empty, I found an employee and asked if they were somewhere else in the store due to the promotion, like a promotional area. “They’re sold out and I’m not sure when we’ll get them back in” came out of the sales persons mouth and right then and there I knew… It was a fucking Furby. This was going to be my hell for the next month and a half. A quest for an item that is worth 1/3 of the price listed, and now selling on eBay for upwards of $200.

It’s fine I told myself. He doesn’t need to have everything he has on his list. He doesn’t need everything he wants for Christmas. UNTIL the commercial is on after every single episode of Spongebob telling him subliminally that this is the best toy ever and he needs one.

We’ll see. My quest has just begun. I will not forget how easy it once would’ve been to click “add to cart” and I WILL find one of these stupid unicorn items they call “Hatchimals”.

Until then,  STOP IT WITH THAT DAMN COMMERCIAL for something that right now, does not exist to purchase!

Merry Little Christmas Sign

I love making crafts that are simple and can be done fairly quickly.

I came across a sign i loved on Pinterest, but my relationship with Pinterest is not always a good one. I’ve tried numerous things that just wind up overwhelming because either something was left out of the steps, or it looked a lot easier then it actually was.

I figured I’d give it a try and with imperfections and all, i really love the outcome!

These steps can be done for any sign you’d like to create from scratch. Here are are steps;

I was able to get a thin piece of plywood from a box at work. It is about 2′ x 3′ which was just the right size I wanted. I lightly sanded the sides of the plywood because it was splintering all over.

Next, I took some white acrylic paint I had on hand and just lightly coated the board.

Then I added some text from my “Phonto” app on my phone, and then sent them to my computer to print and printed and taped them where I wanted then on the board.20151214_104411

After that, since I didn’t have any carbon paper, I added led to the back of the printouts, and then traced over then to transfer the lettering onto my board how I wanted it.

The tracing takes a little bit of time, bit it’s worth it to get the font you want looking nice and neat.

My issue is, with the next step, which was using the black & red acrylic paint, I didn’t have a small square tip paint brush on hand, so I used a small rounded make-up brush I had laying around (yes I did). It worked great except it was hard to square my letters like I wanted and they came out a bit rounded and no longer perfect. I figured it was OK because I’d be sanding it next to give it a vintage/rustic look.20151215_112402

^ This was before sanding and you can see how my painting didn’t go so well.

To sand this, you can do it by hand with sandpaper but I had a small orbital sander on hand and used a 60 grit paper on it. I did a little deeper sanding in some areas and lighter in others to give it the look I wanted. You can see where it’s just about down to the plywood. It also allowed me to make my letters look a little better and the imperfections to almost disappear.

The last step I did was add a light gray stain. I used “classic gray” from Minwax, it’s only $4.50 for a tiny jar that’ll last forever for craft projects.

I almost want to say I could’ve done without this step. I feel like I looked the white a bit brighter and I might sand it down a little to take some of the stain off, but I’m torn. I do like the way it turned it more rustic looking and I don’t have to work about it getting dirty since I’m using it as a holiday decoration on my front porch.

Let me know what you think and if you wind up trying this project!
